It was at the Junction Fire on August 18th, a blaze that surprised us all when it ripped through town, that I think we here in the Oakhurst area cemented our love affair with DC-10 VLAT #911. We had seen it at other near by incidents such as the French Fire in July/August but this time, it was right at home. This was shot as it made one of its critical passes/drops along the Taylor Mountain ridge and finally shut down the fires further advancement towards claiming many more homes in the town. This was a real turning point in containing this fire.
