Its December 2, 1957: catcher Harry Chiti is drafted by the Kansas City Athletics from the New York Yankees in the 1957 rule 5 draft. Harry Chiti would be 82, but passed on in 2002. Born in Kincaid Illinois and plays his high school sports for the Colts of Northwestern high in Detroit. The same school that would give us future Royal John Mayberry, others like Willie Kirkland, Alex Johnson and Willie Horton. Chiti is sign by the Cubs in 1950 and breaks in at the age of 17, in 1950. He wears number 17 for the As in 1958 and 8 in 59 and 60. It would be in July of 1960, when he is sold by the As to the Tigers. In 1962, he makes baseball history, the Cleveland Indians in April would trade him to the Mets, for a player to be named later. In May 62, the Mets send him back to the Indians has the player to be named later. He is basically traded for himself, this is the 1st time in baseball history this has happen.
