Its Fathers Day and, of course, I miss my dad. But I do every day. He was a pretty special guy with his outrageous puns and kind heart. More of a thinker than a he-man, Jack had a zest for life, though he had a helluva time suffering fools. One of his favorite quotes was, there but for the grace of God, go I, which are words I live by to this day. Though he could read Les Miserables in French, was a trivia master, and was the smartest person I knew, he was happy with a glass of beer and a handful of cashews. He loved reading, crossword puzzles, watching sports, playing golf, animals and his family. He was rock-steady and he and my mom made a fabulous team. My only regret in life is that I didnt spend more time with the two of them when they were younger. I was naive enough to think they would always be healthy and always be around. They would have loved all of their great-grandkids as much as they loved their grandchildren. So, today, I plan to sit on a deck at a golf course, be it rain or shine and raise a glass of beer to my father. I just hope I can think of some ridiculous pun that I can share with him. Miss you, Dad. Youre still the best.
