Its a sad day here at the Stowasser-Davis household. Weve had a death in our Fur-Family. I guess now that shes gone, I can post it on FB. We were in fear of the DNR finding out.... About 4 weeks ago, we found a fawn, she was dehydrated, couldnt stand, so we took her in, she became like a little dog, following us everywhere. We fed her goats milk and constantly took her into the woods to graze and keep her as wild as we could without messing her up too bad with human contact. She lived with us a month, seemingly healthy, running, playing, jumping. Im gonna miss her lil face, running towards me, nudging me for a bottle. Found her this morning in her pen. She was cold so it happened early last night. Not sure what happened, if she was bit, or the storm... her large pen was right at the wood line, even had a tarp roof on it, filled with hay (thats why Im wondering if she was bit by something like a snake or spider). Had the DNR found out, they wouldve killed her anyway. Im just happy she spent a month with us, loving us, showing us new things, we loved the hell outta that lil deer. RIP Baby D.... you will be missed. We are gonna bury her in her fave bedding spot in the woods behind our house. Even my other animals liked her. She was loved.
