Its all about tempo....a quick timely lesson....but first a little background. I first saw this years ago to include the story where the mother wanted her son to expand his horizons beyond sports and running the neighborhood, so she insisted he learn the piano and she was going to teach him. He pushed back the whole way and said he couldnt learn it, wasnt interested, and wanted to go out and play. She was trying to teach him this basic example of the scale and tempo and she told him it was easy to play his first song and was as simple as playing the scale backwards but with different tempo. He got frustrated, got up from the piano and said he didnt want to do it anymore and ran outside to play. Mom gave up on trying to give him lessons and died unexpectedly, shortly thereafter. After he got over his grief, her words stuck with him and he went back to the piano and changed his tempo and his Moms wisdom and loss resonated even more with him, as he suddenly realized what truly was important in life.....thats a pretty good lesson about tempo and lifes simple pleasures!
