Its amazing how some things touch your lives that youve not - TopicsExpress

Its amazing how some things touch your lives that youve not experienced before. In the past ten years, we have become a military family...grandsons, husbands, sons, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, close family friends. I am in awe and admiration of those who have served and are still serving...there is nothing like becoming a military family to truly appreciate and understand the sacrifices of all those who belong(ed) to our armed services. We all think of soldiers at war, but remember we have those who serve in humanitarian positions, like the Marines who have been sent to the Phillipines, or the Army who served in Haiti and so many others around the world helping those who have been ravaged by nature or endure punishing hunger, illness or other strife not of their making or choosing. Nothing like becoming a military family to feel the pride in our loved ones for their selfless acts, and to give back to those who have come back less than whole through the many organizations that benefit our returning soldiers. If you are looking to give back, even in the smallest way, you can visit a wounded vet, or share a smile to a passing person in uniform. There are many places to donate time, resources or money such as Wounded Warrior or Homes for our Troops (just two of many). Just take a moment to go online and look around for something in your community that you might give just a little bit in appreciation or remembrance. Believe me, the reward will be worth it. This holiday season, I hope we all embrace the pay it forward movement that is happening in our country as we are out engaging in the Christmas spirit. Thank you veterans and families for your service, sacrifices, humanity and faith in our God and our country. You are the real American hero.
