Its been a funny few days since Ive expressed a complete distaste for fox hunting. Ive been called an idiot, a crazy de-humanising monster, a scum bag hippie, a racist and a classist urbanite - I hold the same view as the RSPCA (England & Wales) does; which is that pest control and protecting property are legitimate aims for a farmer to hold. Hence if a particular fox poses a problem to a particular bunch of livestock it is legitimate to shoot the fox in the head by a marksman. Any other mean does not ensure the least suffering on the animals part. Contrary to what fox hunters preach dogs when they hunt in packs dont always let the leader of the pack attack the fox and the game is over. The truth is that foxes do get torn apart by a pack of dogs and there is no way to ensure 100% that this does not happen. As a pack several animals join in the hunt as that is exactly what the purpose of hunting in a pack is. It simply isnt more humane as hunts dont happen in a neat fashion. Killing for vanity and killing for fun are barbaric principles that we should not let our policy allow as a society. There are better ways to have fun rather than seeing something being destroyed for your pleasure. If its about poor farmers not having the money to hire marksmen then get your policy in shape so that it can play its role in influencing the demand and the need for the marksmen so that eventually demand and supply will sort things out. What saddens me the most about this entire situation is the lack of resolve by my right-wing friends to not find comfort in a right-wing principal that the market does solve everything and because of that you dont need to go ahead and be barbaric. Use the market to be humane not inhumane. #foxhunting #notocruelty #marketsolves
