Its been a long week! I had a 3rd surgery on my nether region to check on the irregularities the rectal surgeon saw- that was last Tuesday. By far the most painful surgery and hardest to recover from. Yesterday that doc called and said that there was NO melanoma in any of that tissue! I did a little jig! my celebration was short lived as in the next breath she announced that there is intraepithelial neoplasia there and that really surprised her. Long story short- I have precancerous tissue. This neoplasia would turn into squamous cell carcinoma if not treated. So I not only have a rare melanoma, I also have the potential for carcinoma. Im sure I should be awarded the medical marvel cancer grower award! I go to surgery AGAIN tomorrow to have that area removed completely. That will be at Bergan Mercy again at 11:30 for all you prayer warriors out there. I also had my apt. with the oncologist yesterday. They are not going to do chemo or radiation. Yay, I think. They are trying to get me into one of two studies. One is at Mayo and the other is in Iowa City Iowa. both are almost 6 hours away and neither are a wonderful vacation destination but whatever works Im game for. I just talked to the Ocologists nurse Mike and he said he has already set up an account with the Mayo people and expects to see if they accept me for that trial by the middle of next week. He is now communicating with Iowa and will let me know when he knows something. I feel as tho this has taken a year already but I only had my first surgery on Oct. 28th. I miss work and being out of the house. I have had to take more pain pills this last week and that puts me in a fog and I have slept a lot. Im ready to get on with life....
