“Its critical that the Marine Corps not only allow women to volunteer for Infantry Officer Course but that it also assign them the #Military Occupational Specialty of Infantry Officer once they successfully pass the course,” says Anu Bhagwati, Service Women’s Action Network executive director and former Marine Corps Captain. “Culture change will not happen in the Marine Corps until women are recognized for the same work and accomplishments as their male peers. Meritocracy matters to a culture where harassment of women is pervasive. “Preparing women to succeed at Infantry Officer Course is a critical component to their success, and ensuring that all #Marines regardless of gender train to the same standard is key. Training and adequate preparation made the difference for the three women who just passed the Combat Endurance Test. We wish them the best of luck with the remainder of this course.
