Its official. I will get a cochlear implant next month so hopefully should be able to hear a little bit better. My left ear is unaidable, so the doctor will do that ear. My good ear is terrible. So thankful for someone who cared enough to strive to invent this device. They cut under the scalp and carve a little path in the mastoid bone for the wires that connect to the cochlear (which sends impulses to the brain via nerves). The wires are attached to a magnetic plate that rests under the scalp and then a processor sits on the magnetic plate. I will not even have to wear a hearing aid in that ear. Amazing science. Yay.
