Its that time of year, friends. Springtime. Do you know what that means? Ants. Yes, its time for those little crawling insects to make their way back into our lives again. In fact, I just spotted an ant in my bathroom a couple of days ago. Those little suckers sure are resilient, arent they? I mean, you spray ant killer around the cracks or maybe put down ant traps, and still, youve got ants. Then it hit me. Isnt that just the way the enemy works? We try to arm ourselves with the word of God, we go to church, we surround ourselves with like-minded Christians, and theres the enemy, finding his way inside us through one of the unprotected, undefended cracks in our armor. Its as if he knows what our weaknesses are, where we are the most vulnerable, where we are left open for a easy attack. What do we do? We need to read the Bible more, pray more, and be more aware of our own defenses. We need to be careful of what we let into our lives via television, books, movies, newspapers, and the media. We need to focus on God and not on this world. Sounds great, doesnt it? But what if the enemy still gets in? He will certainly try, and at times he will succeed. For him, its easy because he knows our weaknesses. Thats when we need to especially focus on God. God is the one who has already defeated the enemy. God has won, and because of that victory, we have won also! So, keep spraying for ants. Put down ant killer. Set up those ant traps. You may eliminate all of the ants, or you may still find that a few ants get in somehow. No matter...just keep trying to eradicate them...just as we must try everyday to eradicate sin and the enemy from our lives. The battle may be a long one and it may not be an easy one, but still we must fight on, until the day comes when it is our turn to join Jesus and God in heaven. Amen. ~John Lloyd~
