It’s Time to Get off Your Ass! Jesus sent two of His disciples, saying, "Go ye into the village opposite you, in which at your entering ye shall find an ass (colt) tied, whereon yet never man sat. Loose him and bring him hither. According to the Gospels, Jesus rode this ass into Jerusalem, and the celebrating people waved palms and carpeted His path with their clothes and small branches of trees (this is where the ritual of Palm Sunday originated). In Jesus’ days an ass was a symbol of peace. But today, the donkey and the word “ass” are often used to mock and ridicule people. Remember it was an ass that had carried Jesus and Mary into Bethlehem and later an ass carried Him into Jerusalem just before His death. This ass was the vehicle of choice for Jesus because it was considered an animal of peace; whereas, a horse represented war and that was not symbolic of Jesus’ nature. As Jesus is riding through Jerusalem He stopped, wept over Jerusalem and got off the ass He was riding. The scriptures reads: And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER’; but you are making it a ROBBERS’ DEN.” And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. In other words when Jesus got off His ass He was riding He went into the temple and got it straight and then started healing people. Until these so-called Christian pastors get of their ass – fancy houses, luxury cars, jet planes, extracting money from their congregations to fund their lifestyles, diamond rings for their wives or husbands, cash gifts, jet skis, luxury cruises, motorbikes, cars, holidays, boats, and a myriad of other expensive luxury items – we will not have a church that is symbolic of Jesus the Christ. They know getting off their ass means truly doing the work of Jesus. Therefore, they will not get off their ass because they knowingly cannot rake in the cash needed to secure their position and lifestyle. There is no real help for our suffering and dying children until these so-called pastors get off their ass!
