It’s a surprise to see it demonstrated with the explicitness of mathematics, but here it is – the Grand Jury in Ferguson didn’t do their job right. Whether they were manipulated by the officials involved, or collapsed under some more amorphous pressure is not answered here, but they clearly ignored their mandate, which was not to come to a final determination of guilt, but to affirm if there was a viable case (meaning they were not supposed to choose between credible witnesses, only to be dismissive of the incredible ones). Moreover, the majority of witnesses contradicted their final conclusion: • More than 50 percent of the witness statements said that Michael Brown held his hands up when Darren Wilson shot him. (16 out of 29 such statements) • Only five witness statements said that Brown reached toward his waist during the confrontation leading up to Wilson shooting him to death. pbs.org/newshour/updates/newly-released-witness-testimony-tell-us-michael-brown-shooting/
