It’s illegal for Wisconsin voters to take a picture of their marked ballots, Government Accountability Board (GAB) official Mike Haas told legislators today. Haas told members of a state Senate committee that GAB has advised local election officials that “voters cannot take photos in the polling place.” Some voters are so proud of whom they voted for that they want a permanent photo record of their choices, Haas added. Later, GAB Executive Director Kevin Kennedy said the no-photo rule is there to protect against voters being bribed to vote for certain candidates. The no-photo rule means voters can’t offer photographic proof of how they voted, Kennedy added.
