It’s important I share the experience at the recent soft launch of Chilis Grill & Bar Indranagar. Having eaten at many of their worldwide locations, there were some expectations, and even considerable excitement. However, nothing prepared me for what lay ahead. On arriving were ‘mistakenly’ restricted to what we could order. 1 hour later, absolutely nothing had been placed on our table… not even water. While we kept waiting, patrons at 3 separate tables arrived, ordered food, ate and left the restaurant premises. Despite the manager assuring us that he would personally look after us after we highlighted the predicament, there was still nothing to show for it. Tired of being treated badly, we decided to leave without eating. The management did not even make an effort to stop us. The PR consultants, the wonderful friends who invited me, insisted we give them another chance. So we went back in. And… voila! This time the food arrived limp, lifeless and cold. The beefsteak smelled like a horse stable and tasted rotten. The mashed potatoes were crusty, stale and dry from constant re-freezing and thawing. The tacos tasted rancid and the shell had the consistency of wet tissue paper. To cut a log story short, we obviously didn’t eat the sorry excuse for a meal they served up after all their faux pas. So, we disappointedly left, for the second, and last time. Oh, and I forgot to mention, my friend who tried the steak threw up all night long when she went home.
