It’s often a strange experience being a Bear but you have to say - TopicsExpress

It’s often a strange experience being a Bear but you have to say it’s never boring. Now that we are able to compete on an equal basis the thought crossed my mind that it had the feel of the quiet before the storm. If we ignore the self destructive nature of the people who run our club and their childish infighting, we are in quite a good position or as the yanks say the state of the union is good. (sorry about the pun) On that premise I began to wonder what would happen next because I never, for a moment, believed that those who strove so hard to kill us would allow us to rise without hindrance and that they would, in the interests of sporting integrity, ensure that hurdles were placed in our way. As I say that I can hear the usual suspects crying paranoia in one respect they would be correct there is paranoia but it mainly resides in those who wish to see our club buried without trace. We are, if you believe most of the Scottish media, the epitome of evil and the main reason for the demise of what to be a great football nation although the reason for this view has ever been adequately explained but then again if you have control of the media then no explanations are required. They are organisations who demand full disclosure from everyone, about everything, except themselves. Ah but!, they say, the Rangers support are just as paranoid and to an extent they are right but as the old adage goes “just because we are paranoid doesn’t mean everyone isn’t out to get us” We have the situation that if everything goes to plan, and there are no changes in the rules governing promotion and relegation, then after two years we will be back with the “big boys”. These clubs, so big that they average between 5,000 and 10,000 attendance at games over a season and for the most part have very little chance of winning any trophies. Yet each year they represent the country in European competition. The reason they can do that is because the “Premiership” is a joke and a league without class or competition. To be fair it was not much better when we were in it but at least no one would have been talking about Celtic playing their CL qualifiers NEXT year. On that basis there is certainly some motive to at least delay our return to the top because we would, even having rebuilt our squad compete for the league and all cups. This raises an interesting point that were we to say win the Scottish cup next year we would be eligible to obtain the European license (because our 3 years would be served) and play in the Europa League, if the SFA were prepared to grant it. It would interesting to see what would happen. And whether some other impediment were to placed in our way. We now have on the SFA and SPFL boards representatives from clubs and individuals who were at the forefront in trying to kill Rangers in the name of “sporting integrity” but none of whom have had the common decency to admit they were wrong let alone apologise. This is a damming indictment into the bias, nasty, vicious heart of Scottish football and exposes the blatant attempt to use a groundswell of misinformation to kill off a rival hated adversary. There is no doubt that we as bears had a role to play in our downfall of our club but had the rush to condemn, by the “football family” been stemmed, it is wholly possible that the club could and would have come out of administration, perhaps weaker but still in the then SPL. There is no doubt that there was a concerted effort to destroy our club by some of this family, ably assisted by a number of prominent journalists, a word I use advisedly. Why then do I rake over old coals. Surely it’s past and everyone is moving forward to the betterment of Scottish football. Well you can believe that if you want but my instincts tell me that there is more waiting down the road for us. If you look dispassionately at what has happened over the past few months it is like a game of chess where all the pieces are being put into place ready to try and make the final move of checkmate. What gives rise to this assertion is the following; Why the rush to re-organise Scottish football which resulted in little more than a name change? The member balance of the SPFL board. The addition of Lawell to the SFA main board The uncertainty of new rules for competitions this year regarding e.g. trialists The decline in attacks by the media, excepting Green and the BBC’s usual diatribes. We now have things starting to move slowly with certain journalists starting to find things other than board to smack us down with like the concern over Lawell’s appointment and major war breaking out on twitter and other social media sites. We are chastised as we do not regard Lawell as the messiah who will save the game in Scotland. Why would we be concerned after all he is the man who has continually and over a number of years stated his desire is to take his club out of Scotland. Good to see that the game is in safe hands. It will be interesting to watch the way in which the media deal with Ranger’s progress through the leagues. We are dammed if we do and dammed if we don’t. They have us winning every game and delight when the team struggles whereas we, the supporters, know that it is not always as easy as they think it should be and therefore we and our players give other teams more respect the media and the ”big boys” do. I believe this may be one part of the strategy to keep Rangers in the wrong type of headlines, which of course sells papers and raises ratings. However what worries me more is what is happening behind the scenes at Hampden and how that will affect the club I love. In summary there is never any evidence or hard fact that I or anyone else will be able to show that there is still hatred being aimed at our club. I think the best way I can summit up is to ask those of you who have holidayed in any tropical or hot country and experienced a serious storm. You instinctively know that something is about to happen, something is coming your way. You can’t see it, feel ,taste it but you know it is coming. That’s how I feel at the moment so please bears lets watch for the storm clouds this time before we get caught in the maelstrom. WATP 🇬󾓪Peter
