It’s time for my inevitable geek out post about the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. I’ve always been sceptical about the viability of Star Wars sequels. Some of my friends will have me on record as stating categorically “Nope. Never gonna’ happen”. And even though I, of course, knew the movie was actually being made. Part of me, deep inside, still just wasn’t convinced. The trailer makes it real. Watching it, my response was something like this (warning potential trailer spoilers ahead) Tatooine, that’s gotta be Tatooine... Ooo Stormtrooper? So the empire is still in the picture then? Gimmicky little droid. Okay, but doesn’t give away much… Ahhh definitely Stormtroopers. That looks VERY J.J. Abrams, with that lighting and all… Who’s that then? Her bike looks a bit meh… OH HELL YES! How cool do those X-wings look skimming above the water surface… This guy has got to be sith. Yep, red lightsaber. Ooo extra bits. Cool. Gimmicky but cool. Now at this point, my brows were furrowed in concentration. Determined to take in every possible detail. Then, the fanfare. My breath caught slightly, I felt my chest tighten and my Jaw involuntarily began to pull my mouth into a smile. OH MY GOD the falcon, look at it twist and roll and scrape close to the surface.... Tie Fighters!!! Listen to them!!! LISTEN TO THEM!!!!!!! The hairs on my arms are standing on end and I have goosebumps on my goosebumps. I am 10 years old again and full on grinning.
