It’s truly revolting: In much of the country, you can be fired solely for being gay. But this morning, President Obama made history: he signed an executive order banning federal contractors from discriminating against LGBT Americans. President Obama just called for your urgent help: “The rest of you, of course, need to keep putting pressure on Congress.” Only Congress has the power to extend these protections to ALL Americans. It’s truly revolting: In much of the country, you can be fired solely for being gay. President Obama just called for your urgent help: “The rest of you, of course, need to keep putting pressure on Congress.” Only Congress has the power to extend these protections to ALL Americans. President Obama’s executive action is a huge step forward for LGBT rights. It extends protections to roughly 28 million workers, or about one-fifth of the nation’s workforce. But across the private sector, hardworking Americans can still be fired for being gay. That’s why President Obama is asking you to demand that Congress act.
