Ive been continually warmed by the expressions of appreciation Ive received from many people at Otago Australs 2014. It was lots of fun and Im relieved it all went okay. I didnt run the tab alone, of course, and I want to push credit where its rightfully due. First and most notably, Philip Belesky, whos worked tirelessly on Tabbycat to add many of the new features we did for Australs 2014. In particular, you can (and should!) thank him for the sites styling, how well it works on mobiles and the emoji that have excited lots of people. He trialled Tabbycat at ADAM, was always on hand to offer expertise I dont have (like, how to run a website) and helped out heaps generally. Theres no way I could have done this without him. Second, the convenors Sophia and John, and the adjudication core Sebastian, Arinah, Daniel, Madeline and Syed, who were all a joy to work with. Despite having very busy responsibilities of their own, they were always accommodating to my endless stream of demands and Im really grateful for their excellent company and unwavering support. Third, as Ive told a few people, in my opinion the most critical time-saving features of Tabbycat were innovations of its original author, Qi-Shan Lim. The adjudicator allocation interface springs to mind. Hes also always been very glad to help me understand things whenever Ive needed it. Fourth, the tab can only ever be as fast as the data entry volunteers. I never figured out what motivated them to help with a mission-critical task unrelated to their interests for nothing in return, but I hope everyone else is as appreciative of them as I am. On two other notes: Theres still a lot more work to do on Tabbycat, and were keen on all the help we can get. Join us at https://facebook/groups/tabbycat.debate/. Lastly, a few people have enquired about or suggested using Tabbycat for other tournaments. Thats where wed like it to go, so please dont hesitate to get in touch with me or Philip if youre interested in using it.
