Ive been hearing about the Palestinian and Israeli conflict for a long time. Ive been to many protests supporting the Palestinians and standing with them in solidarity. Ive talked about the issue. I majored and got a degree in a field that gave me overview on the conflict and its origins. However, Ive never understood the situation to the point that I should have understood it. Today, I watched Occupation 101, and I can tell you that this documentary opened my eyes and gave me reason to why I NEED to keep attending peaceful protests, demonstrations, causes, etc to keep the discourse on the violations and atrocities that are being inflicted on innocent civilians, in sight and on media. The Palestinians have been calling for help for over 40+ years, yet it seems we have been ignoring them. Most importantly, the Muslim and Arab leaders have been at the forefront of ignoring them. However, now things are different. We have a voice. We have all the media outlets at our disposal. We can keep the uproar on this illegal occupation going. We need to speak out and against this terrorism (Yes, this is terrorism). And if you havent been doing so, I urge you to start with watching the documentary to get you started on what it really going on. Dont get me wrong, the documentary is not representative of even a fraction of what is really going on, however the intention is good and the information given and presented is the right amount to get the general public up to pace with what has happened and what is continuing to happen in Palestine.
