Ive been thinking long and hard about my NY Resolution....and if you are easily offended do not read this...although I know me saying that just makes people want to read it...so here we go..I warned you: 1. My kid will not sleep in my bed - Simply put, my marriage bed is sacred and I will not dishonor it out of manipulative fear that my child will be damaged because they are not attached to me. I will teach her to be courageous, to lean on Christ more than me..that Mommy and Daddy are here if you feel sick, are in pain or scared...but we are also here to teach you what is alarming and what can be managed with Christs strength. 2. Vehemently decline all the offers of being Organic, Non-Toxic, In Shape, or taking 100 vitamins because some company thinks they have immunity completely figured out. When I get sick I hear all the health junkies trying to tell me that I need essential oils or some miracle plant in powder form. When Healthy people get sick, they bash themselves to no end because they missed one day of taking their 800 supplements with a seaweed shake. News Flash...if the supplements worked as well as they said, missing one day should not negate the months and months you took them. Your body does not spend all that time building immunity then throw away the immunity because of one missed day. Makes no sense...so no thank you. 3. Immunize my child - I praise God everyday that we have come far enough to have vaccinations for children. I can guarantee you that if these were available thousands of years ago, people would dance in the streets. Now, all of a sudden, some people are saying they are terrible and should be eradicated. That our children are getting Autism and people are getting cancer or dying. I want to seriously hit every person who tries to tell a parent of a child with Autism that they are autistic because they vaccinated their child. It makes my blood boil..how dare you!! That is like someone telling me that we lost our baby because I ate fish while pregnant. If my daughters path includes Autism then it will be her greatest testimony..greater than all of my dreams of her being healthy and wealthy. EVERY decision God makes is good..do you not think He is bigger than a vaccine? If they are truly so terribly dangerous that, if it be His will, He will not rescue them from its effects should they even occur? That is why I will vaccinate. Trust in Christ, not in man...if He convicts not to immunize, do not immunize...otherwise be FREE from the prison of the organic R&D department. 4. Earn my job every day - this was also a resolution last year and it is one that will probably be present every year. My dad always instilled the importance of work not for the sake of being busy or rich but for integrity, discipline and appreciation of a dollar earned. Thanks Dad. 5. Although they probably do not want to be located...wed love to personally thank whomever decided to bless us with something that allowed us the ability to enjoy our family for the holidays. We will seek you out all year and if we never find you then so be it...but Id love to hug you. I hope this New Year closes the book of pain for many who have experienced the unimaginable. I hope it opens and heals wounds for those who have been hiding behind their turmoil. I hope it gives a fresh start to all those who are heavy laden and require new memories. I hope it gives people the ability to question everything they believe to be true and prayerfully realize that Christ has been with them through it all. Wherever you are in this cluster of insanity we call life...I hope 2015 offers you the chance to know Jesus in a way the world cannot comprehend. A chance to go back to the place where you left Him, because you were afraid He would not take you as you are, and allow Him the chance to love you better than all.
