My COVER MY WINDOW ADVENTURE...Well, the window is over my bed - TopicsExpress

My COVER MY WINDOW ADVENTURE...Well, the window is over my bed (the window with the air conditioner in it) and the north wind was blowing ninety to nothing right through it....I cut a piece of plastic with scissors that wont cut hot butter (actually I more like sawed thru it, cause it would turn the plastic sideways instead of cut)...then I climbed up on the bed and...needless to say, I am not steady on my feet on level ground, let alone an inner spring mattress with a 2 inch rubber foam cover on it...I kept having to steady myself by hanging onto the bedstead with 1 hand but you cant hang plastic 1handed so I tried putting one foot over the bedstead...well, that was a joke...I had to use two hands to steady myself and the bedstead is too close to the wall anyway...so....I put one foot on the bed and one on the nightstand...works good, but quite a stretch to the right side of the window...now Im ready to hang plastic...wrong...the winds blowing it like crazy and I cant figure out how to hold it up there ans duck tape it at the same time..so o climb down and go dig out some thumb tacks...well, it works on the top but as I work my way down the wind against the plastic keeps popping my tacks out...I just keep adding more and more tacks and duck taping as I go and I finally reach the bottom and got it sealed an to my horror, the wind is pulling the duck tape loose...well, I dont have a staple gun but I have the itty bitty staples that go in it and a hammer so I climb down again, and dig out what I need..but how do I separate the staples? I see my toenail clippers laying on the nightstand and sit there and pull off staples one at a time...well, I dont know if you ever tried to hammer staples thru duck tape, (I suspect noone has), but it aint easy...you hit your fingers as much as you hit the staple and likely as not they bend or fall out...I had them all over my bed as well as behind my bed (which by the way are still there along with the tacks) but, thru perseverance, and some mighty sore fingers, I got them in and now my bedroom is the warmest room in the house...by the way, I went and bought a staple gun the next day...
