Ive been wondering about something for a while now. Is there much Objectivist work in the field of personal development, & the pursuit of personal excellence? It occurs to me that Objectivism offers a philosophical, theoretical basis that is missing in most personal development programs ... and that many/most students of Objectivism spend a lot of time & energy on interpersonal ethics & politics (understandably), while a bit more could be productively spent on teaching people how to better themselves and their lives on a practical level ... applying Objective principles to make our lives better in all areas. I find that the teaching of the Aristotelian principles of eudaimonia & arete, personal virtue ethics, may be a still largely unexplored and untapped potential of Objectivisms contribution to improving the human species. What do you think? Have there been any really productive discussions in the Objectivist community about this?
