Ive come to realize that visiting Lawton and witnessing the changes are a LOT different than just reading about it on this page, LOL!! Though I officially moved to Oklahoma City in 1992 Im still NOT estranged from home town, well, not exactly so to say as I make fairly regular trips there with time spans thats ranged from every few weeks to not more than 5-6 months at a time. Having said all that, it really depends on WHERE you are going! The trips to mamas house are always the same and have always noticed the changes associated with that route, widening of 38th north of Cache rd, new housing addition in the area and such as that. On Tuesday I was heading down to visit mama in Southwestern hospital and I got lost on the way! Weird. I took Rodgers Lane and planned on turning on 67th to head south, uh, by the way, where is the turn off? LOL, I missed it though Ive driven it a thousand times in the past! No problem, Ill turn south on 82 street and did but as I was driving I could not believe all the new businesses though its all been discussed on this page! Next - I didnt realize that hwy 62 or New Cache Rd as we used to call it had been changed to Quanah Parker Trail-way, kind of Twilight Zone Now, LOL! Wow, guess I need to get out more when I come to visit and just see what is what and where its all at. I know its sad to hear about all the old places being demolished and new things taking their place. It would be great to be able to preserve more of that but one thing about it all, everyone should be glad that the town is growing and becoming a better town in the process. Seems like a LOT more is happening and LOT more opportunity for a LOT of people. Hope Im right on that. Everyone - have a blessed and excellent day!
