Because the developers know that to the casual viewer the games dont -actually- look significantly better, its certainly not the generation leap gamers are used to historically, so theyre trying to distract you with meaningless numbers...its elitist PC gamer logic finally breaking into consoles and stripping out the last bit of character they had left.
