Ive just heard that Joan Rivers has died. Well, to be honest, I was never a huge fan -she certainly had a way with words, but often she strayed over the boundary between poking fun at people and being downright cruel. But anyway, I dont believe in speaking ill of the dead, and her passing reminds me of one of my favourite slightly surreal YouTube clips. This is the kind of clip I sometimes watch late at night slightly drunk and think did that really happen?! My all-time favourite band making a guest appearance on her chat show back in 1987! Poor Joan obviously doesnt have a clue who they are, and as for the interview, its hard to tell who out of her or the Huskers are feeling more awkward! But they manage to produce blistering performances of two of their best songs! So sad that theyd split up within the next year - I honestly think that if theyd managed to stay together another couple of years they really could have broken the mainstream in a Nirvana/Green Day kind of way.
