Ive learned and continue to learn, most of my positions arent popular so heres another one. I dont believe we can continue to chalk up the absent father, single mother, and father not in the home issues, to just fathers dont care, and they need to man up. Thats pretty simple, somewhat too simple. The way I see it, this argument is similar to many others, especially in the black community... ...black males are over represented in the prison population, does that mean black men are just born to be criminals? Black males are suspended from, or placed in alternative schools at alarming rates, does this mean they are predestined to fail at education? Black men top most negative health statistics, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and even homicides, does this mean, black men dont want to live? My point, its not always about self-responsibility, when issues exist for long periods of time, it might be a good idea to look at social determinants and other variables, along with changing the ideology that black men are just lazy, criminals, with too much pride and egos that dont want to take care of their children.
