Ive now got 2 work days under my belt. For the first time in her 22 months, Alexa had a wee bit of separation anxiety this morning when I dropped her off at Auntie Mischas school but judging by the picture updates I’ve been receiving, it’s pretty clear that she enjoys herself there. She gets to hang out all day with her big cousin Tessa (and the other 3 when they’re home from school) and she’s totally spoiled and loved. I’ve been pleasantly surprise that while I think about her 8 million times while I’m at work, it doesn’t stop me from doing my job, as I imagined it would somehow. A few observations now that I’m back at work: - I’m very lucky to be working at CFRI where I have an incredibly supportive team that wants me to do well - Polyester is not as comfortable as pyjamas, and - My head ain’t like it used to be. I’m slow, I’m easily overwhelmed and my focus isn’t what it was, but even this week was better than last week, and I know I’ll improve again next week. Hopefully in time, I will be back to something similar to the old Aimee. The most challenging part so far has really been when I leave work, pick up Alexa up to head home, cook a healthy meal (which tonight she tried feeding to the cat) and spend as much time as possible with her before bedtime, despite both of us being tired and cranky. But we’re doing it and we’ll get even better at all of this in time. She’s now in her crib singing Itsy Bitsy Spider* and I am having a moment to myself. * edit: shes now crying. Never mind that moment. Gotta go ;)
