Ive obviously been absent, but I feel the need to make it more official... After much consideration, Ive decided to close down my RM page and blog...at least for now. My reasons for this are three-fold: First, Ive decided that the turmoil within the online community - and its not exclusive to the disability or autism communities - is just more than I care to spend my time and energy upon at this moment in my childrens lives. When I have to question and hyper-analyze every comment I make for fear of offending someone, thats not a good place to be. And it seems to always offend someone. Offense isnt what Im about. Second, this is an important time in Jacks life. Hes in Kindergarten. His life is evolving into that of a school-aged kid. His needs are changing and increasing as we learn ever more about how to help him succeed. He needs my energy and focus. And he needs it to not be in the public eye. This is his story, not mine. Third - and most important - Im choosing to focus for now on my children. I want them to remember their mommy being present, not on my phone or computer managing an online community. Not saying that its bad to do so or that you cant be present with your kids and online at once, but I dont feel that I can. I want to return to our Floortime roots and build on the attachment parenting relationship weve worked to build with our children. I just want to get on the floor with them and play. It has been wonderful getting to know each of you and your stories. Thank you for letting me into your lives for the past 3 years. Maybe Ill pick it up again one day. Maybe I wont. If I could leave you with one thing in the interim, it would be this - remember that this is a good life no matter how challenging it may seem. The greatest things are never easy. And be always kind to one another. Much love, my friends.
