Ive said it a thousand times, but one of the most disappointing things about both Desolation of Smaug and Battle of the Five Armies is the complete lack of brilliant music. For all An Unexpected Journeys shortcomings, it at least had a brilliant soundtrack. This theme for instance is superb, I cant understand why it didnt appear anywhere in the other two films. It appeared three freaking times in AUJ. Music has always been a great presence in the Middle-Earth films, but its one of the biggest failures in the latter two Hobbit films in my eyes.
