Ive said it before, and Ill say it again…! Why Crowd Funding Is Important: With the near apocalyptic events in the music industry, the surviving labels are terrified. They stick to what’s SAFE: The artists and sounds that placate the most people…the thing that guarantees mass consumption. In that kind of mindset, there is little room for ‘art’. Crowdfunding provides a trickle of hope that the music that’s not ‘mainstream’ can survive…that those who love artists off the beaten path will not be relegated to numbly listening to songs on the radio that they hate, just because there’s no new music being made that they can really FEEL. The power has always belonged to those willing to TAKE it. By saying, “No, I’m not going to spend my money on music that I find lacking, I’m going to help finance ___ band”, you are making an artistic statement, and in a very real way, affecting the cultural climate. So consider dropping a few bucks at the campaign of a band you dig. EVEN IF IT’S NOT MINE. ;) A lot of great artists and bands are traveling this road, and we’re all in it together. We need the fans, the friends, the listeners to help us keep going. We need you.
