I’ve heard it said that the greatest source of conflict in a relationship comes from a difference of expectation or unfulfilled expectation. Guys are usually guilty of over-promising during courtship and under-delivering on their promise in marriage. How he will achieve giving her a completely problem and stress free happily ever after lifestyle, lodge her into a luxurious five star hotel all the days of their life, making sure she is daily chauffeur driven in a hired black Maserati, a trip to the moon twice a year, endless Venetian cuisines, and taking her around the world in eighty days thrice a year, just as he says...is a mystery. The greater mystery is how the lady is so flattered to the point of believing that whole promise package without questioning the truthfulness of the virtual reality. Loving blindly. The politician also is often guilty of the same. Despite a limping sick economy he never stops promising how, if only we elect him into power one more time, he will make it rain in the desert and pave golden highways through the wilderness or even afford the whole nation access to free education, health, housing and transport. Yes, he was unable to deliver on the same kind of promise in his last term. Obviously, the opposition is to blame for that. But this time... Sadly, quite a number of modern day preachers sugar coat the gospel lately. The only part of the gospel that should be announced as hustle free and a happily ever after existence is the sermon on heaven. A good deal of the sermons must prepare us to fellowship in Christs sufferings, to carry each man his cross and follow Christ, and to expect persecution as part of the package. Jesus was able to deliver a great deal of good. He healed the sick, cast out devils, gave his disciples power over all the power of the enemy... Yet he never stopped making it clear...you shall be hated for my names sake, in me you shall have peace, but in the world you will have tribulation...but be of good cheer coz I have already overcome the world Mark 10:29-30 NKJV So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, WITH PERSECUTIONS—and in the age to come, eternal life. (Mark 10:29-30 NKJV)
