JUDGMENT BETTER THAN GOLD Mike Heil Psalms 19:9,10 “The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.” The Lord has given us the high honor of loving people in His name, but He has specifically warned us not judge others. There are places and people in life we are to judge, parents are to judge and lead their children, hand we are certainly to judge ourselves, but the actions and intentions of others we do not know. God alone is qualified to judge, and we should all be thankful that duty is not given to us. The simple reason we are not to judge others is we are not qualified. You and I do not possess the elements of right judgment. Think about it, which one of us has lived a perfect life on this earth? There is only one Man who has lived righteously and perfectly without sin, and His name is Jesus Christ. Although our failures and our sins have been washed away by the blood of our Lord, we have not walked perfectly without sinning. We are also not qualified in knowing the heart of another. Too often we watch another’s behavior, and the thought enters our mind “that is not right, they shouldn’t act so selfish”. What we can’t know is their husband was just diagnosed with cancer today, or we didn’t understand their son’s wife just filed for divorce. We don’t see these horrible pressures on their soul, but our God does and grants them mercy. Aren’t we blessed He accords to you and me the same mercy in judging our behavior? The judgment of God, far from being a situation to avoid, is a blessing for all who will receive it. David tells us in Psalms 19 “they are more desirable than gold . . .sweeter than honey . . .”. Our judgment for sin and its penalty – death – is completed; that judgment was given on the cross at Calvary. Still, God the Holy Spirit, brings His judgment to our present life to warn us, and correct us, from the workings of our flesh which can keep us from peace, keep us from prosperity. These warning are sweet and to be treasured as gold in our lives. God will never condemn us now that we are in Christ and He is in us, but, as our loving Father, He brings guidance and judgment to save us from ourselves. Do you believe this? Let us quickly receive these judgments from our Father.
