JUST ABOUT WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR ONE TO DO/ACT IN WAY OF FOSTERING THE CHANGE THEY DESIRE? In my recent endeavors to have my views put out there, I did take a rather satirical turn regarding the way the entire Kiprotich success in Moscow has been handled. My view was that instead of always hoping for and rewarding just any single athlete who scoops us a medal, its high time we started recognizing and rewarding team effort and above all, taking up a long term initiative to support, sustain and uplift the Uganda Athletic framework on a long term basis so we can as a nation get more medals in any other competition of a sort. I did manage to have what I would refer to as a precise exchange of views or encounter with the MD vision group on Twitter. To him, my query on Twitter @mkimsevil1 was “What’s the long term plan for the whole of #TeamUganda or are we always gonna dance when we scoop a single Gold n that’s it?” His response was that “No, we stop talking and criticizing those who put their money where their mouths are and act. He did add that actions speak louder.” Unless my judgment is to be doubted, he took offense and was subtly telling me to shut the hell up, stop talking and start to act. But the question at the back of my mind was “So as long as one puts his money where his mouth is, it’s no one’s business to care about the motive and approach?” Basically meaning the rest is no one’s business if they can’t put their money where their mouths are. As the man who was steering the "Uganda for Kiprotich campaign" this was a rather unbecoming response. From posing that question to him I absconded (though not without comprehension) and chose to express my hope that something be done for a more long term and inclusive solution or initiative to uplift the whole of Uganda’s athletic framework “I hope something more inclusive and sustainable can be worked on to uplift the entire athletic framework in Uganda. 4 more Medals.” and in response he said “Well, you don’t just hope and even then, whom do you hope to do that something if it is not you?” In my opinion, I did make it clear to him that it zeros down to things like authority and ability for one to be able to act and may be foster positive change. To me, even making your view regarding a particular issue of concern heard by someone in position with authority and ability to act is taking a step and by that, one plays a role in fostering change. And I believe that if someone in position and with ability to act does start an initiative, then to listen and comprehend public opinion should be an obligation for they themselves cannot be the type of “monkeys judging in the case of a burning forest” I POSE A QUESTION: JUST ABOUT WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR ONE TO DO/ACT IN WAY OF FOSTERING THE CHANGE THEY DESIRE?
