Jacksons attitude was down a bit since he thought he was going to - TopicsExpress

Jacksons attitude was down a bit since he thought he was going to get a PICC line, but since his IV was holding up, the doctor agreed to put it off. Yay! His magnesium level was low, which is a common side effect, so he had to spend an unexpected four hours hooked up to the IV today so he could get a bag of magnesium. Luckily, his day nurse let him walk around, so we took several laps around the floor and even ventured onto the garden to enjoy the rain. Jackson got to Facetime with a friend and Jayla. His night was made even better when his favorite night nurse was finally back on schedule (after four nights of politely inquiring if she was working each night). They excitedly discussed the World Cup games as she prepped him for his final installment (for now) of his ATG. We are hoping to be discharged tomorrow. When we meet with the doctor, we will have a better idea of his at-home care, blood work schedule, timeline, and expected outcomes. Between the IVs, IV attempts, and daily blood draws, hes coming home with quite a set of bruises on his arms. However, since his diagnosis, he has only needed platelets twice and one transfusion, so we count those minimal needs as blessings. As always, we are so thankful for the family and friends who reach out and send well-wishes. Jason and I struggle to grieve and manage his situation, so we are amazed at our young son who is doing both so well.
