The Industry says that electricity demand is rising, when in fact it is not. So, if demand is going down why do electricity companies keep building? Well, its pretty simple. They get paid for what they build, NOT for what we need. For each pole they put up, the government slings them a massive subsidy, and they slug you for construction through your electricity bill. Its a win win, for THEM. We at the moment, do the equivalent of building a ten lane freeway, where two lanes of it are only used only one weekend a year. The more they invest in poles and wires, then the greater the dividends they get. Its like in any business, if youre paid just for the sheer amount of work you do, rather than for your efficiency, youll have a tendency to do work for works sake. GOLD PLATING is responsible for unnecessary price rises.
