James 1:22-25 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. Our faith in Christ must collide with appropriate action. Living for Christ implies repentance and the birth of a new creation. A hunger is born for the things of God, and to live according to the new life that is found in Christ. The forgetful listener is the person who attends church every week and listens to the word, but never engages the message toward life change. The Word of God is designed to be lived out, and the hearing of the Word is a catalyst to that change. Satan continues to sabotage your life after you have heard the good news.
