James T. Macool Sr. age 70, embarked on his next “great adventure” Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Sebring, Florida. Jim was born on September 9, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Elmer “Duke” and Isabelle (Donnelly) Macool. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran where he proudly served in the 82nd Airborne out of Ft. Brag. Later he became a member of Local 19 Sheet Metal Workers of South Eastern Pennsylvania where he retired as a Master Craftsman. He was also a lifelong member of the Masons and the National Rifle Association and one of the Founders of the Triple Town Talkers Radio Club. Jim was also the Light Heavyweight Champion of Ft Jackson South Carolina in 1961. He was an avid golfer and bird hunter in his younger years. He had a deep love for Great Danes and owned several during his lifetime. Jim is survived by his life long love of 53 years, Marie (Baumgart); his sons James T. Macool Jr. (Eileen) – Ft Meyers; Richard P. Macool (Susan) – Sebring, Fl. 5 Grandchildren, Jason Macool, Airielle Macool , Gabrielle Macool , Shelbie Macool & Shaelyn Macool and 1 Great-Grandson, Liam Macool. 2 Brothers William Macool (Mary) – NJ; Michael Macool (Regina) – NJ. 3 Sisters: Muriel Carolfi – NJ; Helen Wilson – NJ; Isabelle Macool – NJ. He was preceded in death by his sister: Marianne McCart. Over the years Jim lived in Philadelphia, PA; Stratford, NJ; Franklinville, NJ; Bonnie Doone, NC; Glassboro, NJ; Clayton, NJ; Franklin Township, NJ; Greenwood, NY and most recently Sebring, FL. At Jim’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on August 2, 2014 at the Sebring Post 4300 VFW. In lieu of flowers Jim has asked for donations to the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc at magdrl.org.
