Member of Warsaw SKIF, member of Warsaw Tsukunft, graduate of Central Yiddish Schools Organization school on Karmelitska Street, member of Bundist underground in the Warsaw Ghetto, Bund liason to the Jewish Fighting Organization, battalion commander during Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, co-commander of Jewish forces during the Warsaw Uprising, Bund leader in post-war Lodz, cardiologist, adviser to the Polish Solidarity movement in the 1970s, parliamentarian, member of the French Legion of Honour, winner of the Polish Order of the White Eagle, honorary doctorate from Yale University in the U.S., honorary doctorate from the Free University in Brussels, Belgium, winner of the Jan Karski Prize.
