January almost gone - thank goodness for that. for venues/djs its the quietest time of the year, so rely on the regular trade you have looked after all year to still come in as most people are skint, but you will always get the odd night when trade is not good. The biggest thing I learnt over many years is to look after the regular weekly customer - sadly in todays world of growth/bonus in some venues its only about keeping happy the few non-regular people that nigh that spend the most (they wont come back again as they saved up for that one party). the venue alters the venue to accommodate just for that one big money group, so forgets why there regular trade come in each week? - this is the main reason why clubbing is in such a mess to what it was many years ago. A very wise club owner/manager thought me that many years ago - be happy making a profit, good reputation & being unique from all the others. greed only destroys what you do best (rod suffell) only had one very quiet night this January, but the others were good for January - the venues made good money with there regular trade, pays the bills. Music education was done (the unique thing). February soon...
