Japanese Diplomat Pays Visits In Yap COLONIA, Yap (Media Division/YapStateGov News) — A diplomat from the Japanese Embassy in the Federated States of Micronesia is in Yap to attend the hand-over ceremony for the Land Fill Project in which funding has been provided by the Japan Government. The Deputy Chief of Mission, the Honorable Masaki Tani, arrived in Yap on Sunday, February 9, 2014 and began his courtesy meetings with members of the State Leadership on Monday, February 10, 2014 prior to the hand-over ceremony of the land fill project to the State Government on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. On Monday, the DCM paid a courtesy call on Yap State Governor The Honorable Sebastian L. Anefal at the Governor’s Office at 9:00AM. At 3:00PM, he paid another visit to The Honorable Chairman Ignathio Hapthey of the Council of Tamol, one of the two Councils in the Traditional Branch of the Yap State Government. While in Yap the Japanese diplomat also held separate meetings with several government officials, which included Yap State Attorney General Jonathan M. Tun, Acting Director of Youth and Civic Affairs Francis Reg, Chief of Media & Protocol Sebastian Tamagken, YapStateGov Webmaster John W. Fillmed, Director of Public Works & Transportation Vincent Figir, and Yap State Airport Manager John Sigrah, Manager. He continued his meetings on Tuesday with two meetings, one with Chairman Clement Mulalap of the Finance Committee, Eighth Legislature of the State of Yap at 10:00AM, and the other at 12:00 noon with Congressman Joseph Urusemal, Chairman of the Congressional Standing Committee on Education. At 2:00PM on Tuesday, the DCM joined Governor Anefal and other state government officials at the hand-over ceremony which marked the completion of Yap’s improved dump site project. The hand-over ceremony was held at the improved public dump site. After cutting the ribbon, The Honorable Masaki Tani and The Honorable Anefal took a tour of the improved dump site with the other government officials and members of the community who attended the ceremony.
