Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. {spirit: or, breath} (KJV) Works. What are works? One of the common sayings in the religious world is "Works do not save you". Although this is true in one sense yet false in another sense. How can this be? How? The definition of Works has to be taken into consideration. Now a question you must ask is this. What works are we talking about? Are we talking about "works" men can do to earn our salvation? Are we talking about "works" God expects us to do? True. Works of men can not save us and we can in no way ever do anything to merit salvation. It is TRUE however if we do the works of God. (Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent.) Ac 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. We find examples that we must work. To deny works as part of our salvation is just as wrong as denying baptism as part of our salvation. As Christians we are to take an active role in serving in the kingdom of our Lord. We must do works which He has determined for us to do. We must do the will of our Lord. (Matt 12:50, Rev 2:5). Feel free to post your Scriptural responses as to why you agree or disagree. There is no option to agree to disagree. The scripture demands we be like minded and united in belief not have our own individual interpretations. Eph 4:5
