Jasmine Star is one of my favorite people in the industry. Shes - TopicsExpress

Jasmine Star is one of my favorite people in the industry. Shes thoughtful, kind, insightful, and produces beautiful photography. I e-mail her from time to time, and she usually gets back with me in a two week period. Which I find fantastic. She is, after all, an international photographer and was name top 10 most influential photographers of 2014. So I imagine her inbox is full CONSTANTLY. That being said, I reached out to her recently in regards to some negative commentary Ive been receiving from brides that I just cant seem to make happy, despite my most heartfelt efforts to do so, including, but not limited too, offering free services. Im hoping her words will help other photographers who might encounter difficulties as they grow. This is what Jasmine had to say: A client is free to have her opinion. Really. But its important for you to carefully weigh your efforts against her expectation. If the client expected something, and you didnt deliver (despite your best efforts on the wedding day) then theres nothing you can do. If you believe you shot the same way you shot many other weddings last year (and you felt you produced great work), then you must let it go. Yes, it hurts. Obviously. We want all our clients to love our work and creative eye. But if your clients were expecting something that didnt live up to their imagination or hopes for the day, thats not your fault. Know this. Im trying to process why this is hurting me so much. If you think you didnt do as good of a job as you normally do, then you may be grappling with the gravity of the truth. Truth sometimes hurts. If you think you did a great job, then youre grappling with someone criticizing you. Both of these options are hurtful. But, I promise, itll make you grow. If the situation is affecting you, or you believe you could have done better, or youd like to amend the clients feelings towards the photos, offer to reshoot their bridal photos. Perhaps this will make them happier. If not, simply try to hear them out, then move on...determined to approach every wedding with your commitment to quality and art. Shine On, j*
