Jayde Kruger completed rounds 16, 17 and 18 of the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain at Snetterton with a 3rd, 2nd and 6th places respectively. Qualifying report Jamun’s South African star Jayde Kruger was third quickest overall, his Mygale returned to fine fettle after problems in testing Friday. Round 16 report Sam Brabham made a rocketship grid getaway also to slot ahead of Jayde Kruger on the opening lap, but the JTR Mygale man dropped back to fifth by the end of lap one with the beginnings of a clutch problem which would bring his retirement after six laps. South African Kruger ran third for the rest of the race, finishing well ahead of his battling Jamun team-mates Juan Rosso and Nico Maranzana to collect the second podium finish of his short season. Jayde was disappointed: “We are slow, to be honest. I am losing a second on my team-mate down the straight and now the car’s not handling great. We’ll have to have a look and see what can be done.” Provisional results Round 16 (of 30) 3 August 2013, Snetterton 11 laps / 32.66 miles 1 Dan CAMMISH / GBR (Leeds) JTR Mygale 20m 43.852s / 94.51mph 2 Harrison SCOTT / GBR (Althorne) Falcon Mygale +5.083s 3 Jayde KRUGER / RSA Jamun Mygale +8.695s 4 Juan ROSSO / ARG Jamun Mygale +18.334s 5 Nico MARANZANA / ARG Jamun Mygale +19.752s 6 James ABBOTT / GBR (Thurlby) Radical Mygale +20.713s etc Fastest lap Cammish 1m 51.248s / 96.07mph Est Rec Round 17 report Cammish made a perfect getaway from the pole to slot in front into turn one; he completed the opening lap two seconds clear of Jayde Kruger’s Jamun Mygale and built his lead to eight seconds by mid-distance before easing his pace towards the end. Though unable to live with Cammish’s speed, Kruger easily outpaced the rest of the field in the early laps, the South African’s mechanics having found some worthwhile overnight tweaks to the set-up of his Mygale. But towards the end he came under heavy pressure from Falcon Motorsport’s Harrison Scott. “We are still struggling with tyre wear,” said Jayde, “and the straightline speed we are missing we are not going to be able to find this weekend. We made some changes and initially it seemed to be a step in the right direction, but towards the end of the race Scott was catching me quite dramatically. Luckily he made a few mistakes so we got lucky.” Round 18 As with his earlier Snetterton victories, Cammish assumed command from the off, converting his pole position into a useful lead into turn one and then a two-second advantage by the end of the opening lap. Unlike others, Cammish tip-toed around oil dropped on the track by the poorly engine of Meridian Motorsport’s Connor Mills. “I realised when I went over it the first time and didn’t do it again,” said Dan, “but I’m not sure how the others coped with it.” Not too well was the answer - there were lurid moments for several, including Nico Maranzana and Jayde Kruger, who slid off at Riches while disputing third place on the third lap. That handed third place to Sam Brabham, his JTR Mygale restored to health by a between-race engine change. Sam hounded down race-long second place man Harrison Scott towards the end, closing to within two seconds, and was delighted with his positive end to a difficult weekend: “I knew I could do it this time. The car was great, although I was worried that the clutch was slipping a bit on the last lap,” said Sam. JTR’s Camren Kaminsky ran fourth until lap nine, when Jamun’s Juan Rosso seized the spot with a decisive move around the outside at Riches. Kaminsky beat off a challenge from Nico Maranzana on the next lap but alas the American did not finish the race - he robustly defended his fifth place from attack by Kruger into the final corner, they made contact and Kaminsky’s race was run. This incident played into Andy Richardson’s hands: the Lincolnshire lad, still battling heavy tyre wear, seizing fifth within sight of the flag. Kruger recovered to finish sixth.
