Jean-Michel Basquiat was one of the first artists to kick off Modern street art in down town New York, tagging his name as Samo. Famously known for being Andy Warhols side kick, if subordinately, and for his tragic heroine addiction, he must be celebrated as a trend setting and non-conformist artist that helped pave the way for other artists to follow. As we know, there is a big Street- art scene in Bristol UK, where Banksy himself came from, but also where the brilliant band Massive Attack was born. Its lovely to hear that Massive Attacks Robert 3D Del Naja say that the raw beauty of Basqiait artwork inspired his own paintings.
