Jesus Is Not the Archangel Michael The title may seem strange to most, but this is in fact what the Seventh Day Adventists teach. The purpose of this article is to Biblically refute this blasphemous claim this Masonic cults makes. God make distinction between Jesus and the angels. “For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Whomaketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.” Hebrews 1:5-8 Here the Lord, through what the apostle Paul wrote, is telling us that Jesus is not an angel. In Hebrews 1:6 God makes distinction between Jesus and the angels. “And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him (Jesus).” Here God is telling us that angels worship Jesus. Michael calls upon the Lord when fighting against Satan. “Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” Jude 1:9 Here Michael rebukes the devil in Jesus name. He isn’t Jesus. The difference between Jesus and Michael can be seen in comparing Matthew 4:10 where Jesus rebukes Satan and Jude 1:9 where Michael the archangel calls upon the Lord Jesus to rebuke Satan. “Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” Matthew 4:10 No angel is ever worshipped in Scripture; Therefore Jesus (being worthy of all worship) cannot be Michael or any other angel (not worthy of worship). Angels are called sons of God (Genesis 6:2-4, Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7) But Jesus is THE Son of God (Hebrews 1:8, Matthew 4:3-6) “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” John 1:3 This statement applies to angels as well. Jesus created the angels. The true identity of Jesus Christ is this. “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.” Zechariah 12:10 “Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.” Isaiah 43:10-11 “Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” Isaiah 44:6 In these verses God is speaking. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 (The Word; God, was made flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus is God) ”And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16 Who was manifest in the flesh? God. Who preached to the Gentiles? God. Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. Yahweh is the first and last. “Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am he.” Isaiah 41:4 Jesus is the first and last. “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Revelation 22:13 Yahweh is the redeemer. “Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.” Isaiah 48:17 Jesus is the redeemer. “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” Hebrews 9:12 Yahweh gives life. “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7 Jesus gives life. “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 10:28 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” 1 John 5:7 Michael is no doubt an amazing creation of Jesus Christ. We appreciate everything he has done as a dear family member in Christ, but in Heaven he will be joining us in worshipping God. God didn’t send an angel to die for our sins, He sent Himself as Jesus Christ. He made you and came to redeem you.
