JimmyThumbP/jimi-samuP/OneRoom (god, pick a name) is a name that everyone should be familiar with by now if you call yourself a Vocaloid fan. He’s the guy who made From Y to Y and, most recently, Reboot. He makes the kind of music that instantly makes me want to cry, the kind of beautiful, sorrowful melodies that remind me of the past and all the things I have to be thankful for. Just as Reboot approached the subject of losing a close friend, Afterglow is about graduation, an occasion in a student’s life that can be both joyous and painful when faced with the future. We’re introduced to an MC who loves to paint. Throughout his years in school, he amassed many awards for his artistic abilities, but things seem to change when he enters high school. His artwork takes on a darker atmosphere and very soon, he isn’t being recognized for his talent anymore. He always wanted to be an artist, but now he isn’t sure what he’ll do with himself after graduation. That is, until the girl outside the window he was fond of painting shows him that the value of his talent isn’t found in the number of awards he wins, but within himself. The song and video combine to create a very eloquent piece, worthy of a few views in my opinion.
