John 19:26-27 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. I can not even imagine what life was like for Mary, the mother of Jesus. To have a sinless son when you yourself needed a savior. To have a son who never disobeyed, or rolled his eyes, gave you attitude. Our children are not perfect, as we are not perfect, our children make mistakes as we ( mothers and fathers) make mistakes. Mary still needed a savior to rescue her from the demands, guilt, and worries of motherhood. In her case her own son. I always say, if my kids are good I am good. What was Mary feeling. Jesus love for his mother was spoken of loudly at the very point of his death. Jesus love for us always shows up in those worse time. Can you even wrap your mind around what is happening when Jesus say to John, please care for my mom. Would I be thinking that at my time of greatest pain both physical and spiritual. God the father turn from Jesus as Jesus bore our sins and drank the cup of Gods wrath to the very end and yet his love for his mom shows strong. Mary, who had a son that never sinned against her and yet she had sinned against him as well as her other children. Mary at the foot of the cross, a mixture of love and loss which filled her heart. Here she watched her baby bleed for his people, did she at this time remember the words of " Simeon " ? Luke 2:35 yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also. When we are in trouble our thoughts turn toward ourselves but Jesus thoughts turned outward to his mother and ultimately to us as well. We all have mothers, either here on earth or in heaven, we see mothers almost everywhere we look. Today remember we are all family and when a mother passes by today say a prayer for her. Jesus love for us meets us right where we are, Jesus is about relationships to the very end. Take care of those relationship God has given you. Reach out and be Jesus to this lost world. Be like Jesus to those he has placed in your life. We can trust that God will take care of us as well as those we love. When its our time to go home Jesus will care for those we are leaving behind. We can trust him in every moment with our families. Jesus loves them more then we do. You are all my family and I pray peace for you, provisions to meet your needs, hope for the future, love to you all in Jesus name amen:
