John R. Gajdik, Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 2:20 pm at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, IL. John was born on July 25, 1943 in Johnson City, NY the son of John and Elizabeth (Zlock) Gajdik, Sr. He married Judith Anne Whipple on May 15, 1971 in Johnson City, NY. Surviving are his wife, Judith; a son, William J. Gajdik; a daughter, Elizabeth (Jason) McCombs of Washington, IL; two grandchildren, Keelyn and Kendall McCombs of Washington. IL; and one sister, Barbara (Bob) Kimmel of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents. After John graduated from high school he went into the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he began his career in the printing business. He also worked as a Tool and Die Maker in Binghamton, NY, then as a Union Trade Printer for World Color in Montclair, NJ. He was a union 4-color stripper and pressman. For the past 37 years he has owned and operated, along with his wife Judy, Printographi Offset Printing in Chillicothe, IL. He was a member of the Peoria Casting Club and the Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. A reception-style gathering for friends and relatives will be held at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 11:30 to 1:30 PM. John’s wishes are for everyone to enjoy life to the fullest.
