John boyer Atlanta 1 hour ago I find it bewildering that Brooks would interpret Gardners definition of meaning, which to me sounds like a well grounded life-long effort to communicate and contribute to ones fellow humans, as sentiment or emotion, and lacking in quantifiable moral (real moral systems) value. Maybe we do live in times where vacuous entertainment industry types interview vain celebrities about the meaning of their lives, but for most of us, performing our tasks as family members, employees, friends, coaches and confidants imbues meaning into our lives that is far richer in many respects than abstract real moral systems. This is elitist doublespeak, at a minimum.
